The Equifax Breach: How to Really Protect Your Taxes and Credit

Currently, IRS guidelines only allow you to get an IP PIN if you filed last year's return with a home address in Florida, Georgia or Washington, D.C., Or if the IRS invites you to apply, which generally only happens if you have already been a victim of tax-related identity theft. 

WHAT TO DO

1. Get your credit report at www.annualcreditreport.com
2. If your live in FL, GA, or DC go to www.irs.gov, search IP PIN and apply for one NOW!
3. Then place a credit alert and/or freeze on your credit report with TransUnion, Experian, and Equifax.
4. Continue to monitor your credit for FREE, if possible or you can get credit monitoring for annually for $34.95, e-mail me for details.
5. Lastly, invest in ID Theft Protection for FREE, if possible or you can get ID Theft Protection for $7.99 per month or $14.95 per month for a family, e-mail  me for details.
6. For people in other states, be prepared to file early to beat the crooks and if necessary file your return early and amend it later.

Equifax you messed up big-time and you need to work with the IRS to issue everyone affected with a IRS IP PIN before year-end to get ahead of the crooks.
It's the best thing to do to protect all taxpayers from tax fraud.
